Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient Principal Data Governance Analyst with 6-8 years of experience in data governance, data quality, and data analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Python/R and SQL, and a proven track record of implementing data governance frameworks, improving data quality, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
- Lead data quality initiatives including profiling, cleansing, validation, and monitoring of enterprise data assets.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define data ownership, stewardship, and metadata management practices.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, glossaries, and lineage documentation.
- Use Python/R and SQL to perform data analysis, automate data quality checks, and generate insights.
- Identify and resolve data issues, ensuring alignment with business rules and regulatory requirements.
- Support compliance with data privacy and protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Contribute to the selection and implementation of data governance and data quality tools.
- Provide training and support to data stewards and business users on governance best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
- 6-8 years of experience in data governance, data quality, and data analysis roles.
- Strong programming skills in Python for data manipulation, automation, and reporting.
- Advanced SQL skills for querying, profiling, and transforming data.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
- Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in Data Governance or Data Management (e.g., DAMA, DCAM).
- Experience in regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, or telecom.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Knowledge of data architecture and data modeling principles.
