What we are seeking

Sparkz is looking to introduce a battery energy storage system (BESS) for the grid, as part of its mission to establish and be at the forefront of a US produced lithium-ion battery energy ecosystem.

The CAM Manufacturing Technician supports the safe and efficient production of cathode active material (CAM) used in lithium-ion battery manufacturing. This hands-on role operates, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots chemical processing, material handling, thermal processing, laboratory, and related production equipment while ensuring adherence to established safety, quality, and process requirements.

The ideal candidate combines strong manufacturing fundamentals with mechanical aptitude, hands-on troubleshooting ability, and a resourceful approach to maintaining equipment reliability and production continuity.

This is what you will be doing at Sparkz:

  • Operate, monitor, and support CAM manufacturing equipment and processes, including material preparation, mixing, reaction, filtration, drying, thermal processing, milling, screening, and packaging, as applicable.
  • Weigh, measure, transfer, and handle raw materials and finished products in accordance with work instructions and batch requirements.
  • Monitor process parameters, equipment conditions, and production data and promptly identify abnormal conditions or deviations.
  • Perform in-process inspections, sampling, documentation, and basic quality checks.
  • Complete production records, batch documentation, material transactions, and other manufacturing records accurately and on time.
  • Perform equipment setup, changeover, cleaning, preventive maintenance, and hands-on troubleshooting of production and laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and support equipment such as glove boxes, vacuum systems, pumps, furnaces/ovens, laboratory equipment, and other process equipment.
  • Diagnose basic mechanical, vacuum, pneumatic, and process-equipment issues and perform appropriate repairs or adjustments within established procedures and training.
  • Apply practical problem-solving and resourcefulness to resolve equipment and process issues, minimize downtime, and maintain production continuity while escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Maintain clean and organized production and laboratory areas in accordance with 5S and contamination-control requirements.
  • Follow all EHS requirements, including proper handling of chemicals, powders, process materials, and required PPE.
  • Support engineers, maintenance, quality, and operations personnel during process development, equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, experimental builds, and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Support battery material evaluation and cell fabrication activities, including coin-cell and pouch-cell fabrication and testing, as applicable.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of standardized work, SOPs, work instructions, preventive-maintenance practices, and manufacturing processes.

What you bring to Sparkz

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical, trade, laboratory, or manufacturing education preferred.
  • Associate degree (AA/AS), relevant college-level technical coursework, or current enrollment in a technical, engineering, manufacturing, or related degree program preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, materials, battery, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, laboratory, or similar production environments preferred.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing manufacturing or laboratory equipment.
  • Experience with glove boxes, vacuum systems, pumps, laboratory equipment, thermal-processing equipment, or similar systems preferred.
  • Experience with lithium-ion battery materials, coin-cell fabrication, and/or pouch-cell fabrication is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Resourceful, hands-on approach to troubleshooting with the ability to identify practical solutions that reduce downtime and unnecessary equipment or repair costs.
  • Comfortable working around industrial equipment, chemicals, powders, and process materials while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures, accurately document work, and maintain strong attention to safety and quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing and development environment.

Compensation: $22-26 per hour depending on qualifications and experienc
