The role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the SoFi Technology team. You will have the opportunity to set technical direction for a growing and critical business function within SoFi where the overall architecture is still relatively greenfield and the business impact is high. This is a great opportunity to help shape the evolution of the team and the platform's capabilities for years to come. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating user-friendly, performant, and scalable web applications. As a Senior Front-End Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing front-end solutions that enhance the user experience and drive the success of SoFi products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use React/HTML/CSS/JavaScript to turn designs into performant and maintainable user interfaces
- Lead the development and testing of system components/services, code, and design reviews
- Manage projects and deliverables, and design, deploy, and improve database solutions.
- Take initiative and produce timely results in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Participate in shaping the technical architecture of the product
- Help translate user stories into technical solutions
- Deliver highly available and scalable services in a production environment
- Mentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the team
- Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies
- Communicate with project leads, product managers, and other software developers
- Consistently demonstrate extremely high levels of technical knowledge, ingenuity, and creativity. Develops and applies advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories, and concepts. Broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of specialty.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience
- 5+ years related experience or demonstrated equivalent
- Experience with React
- Experience with modern JavaScript libraries and tooling
- Strong knowledge of semantic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Effective communication skills
- Familiarity with responsive design/development and mobile-web best practices.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others, and get stuff done
- Strong sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion
- Experience working in a collaborative coding environment (and git specifically), refining designs together, working through code reviews, and managing pull request
Nice To Have
- Full-stack engineering experience, or a willingness and passion to broaden your technical skill set
- Expertise with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, AWS, CI/CD.
- Fintech/finance experience
- Insurance Industry Experience: Familiarity with the insurance industry and its specific regulatory requirements.
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
