Taulia's Commitment:
It is our duty to create and advance a diverse and inclusive company where all Taulians feel they are celebrated. All individuals are welcomed, free to express themselves and rewarded for showing up as authentically every day. By hiring women, people of color, individuals with disabilities, veterans, people of all sexual orientations and from underrepresented and marginalized communities, Taulia will revolutionize fintech.
We are looking for a well-rounded Senior Accountant who is eager to play a critical role in scaling Taulia’s Finance department while mastering US, Canada, Australia, and Saudi Arabia payroll operations.
As a Senior Accountant, you will own core corporate accounting responsibilities while taking ownership of the payroll function.
If you are an analytically minded accounting professional who is excited to expand your skill set into multi-state payroll, labor compliance, state tax nexus and international payroll, this is a highly visible role with growth potential. You will work closely with the Accounting team and cross-functional partners (HR, Legal) to build robust, scalable payroll and accounting workflows.
End-to-End Payroll Processing for US and Other locations (Ownership & Learning Focus)
• Manage routine US, Canada, Australia, and Saudi Arabia payroll processing for a predominantly salaried workforce with high precision and confidentiality
• For US payroll, act as the lead for multi-state relocation compliance—ensuring timely state unemployment (SUTA) registrations, local tax withholdings, and updated state-specific payroll rules as employees move.
• For US payroll, coordinate statutory paid family and medical leave (PFML) calculations, short-term disability top-ups, and fractional-day pay adjustments without compromising FLSA exempt status.
• For non-US payroll, understand and execute the relevant local social charges and taxation
• Partner with HR and external payroll/legal compliance advisors to track local changes and update policies accordingly.
• Serve as a supportive, responsive point of contact for employee payroll, deduction, and tax-withholding inquiries.
Core Accounting & Financial Reporting
• Prepare multi-currency journal entries, including all payroll and compensation related journal entries, income statement fluxes, and balance sheet variance analyses.
• Work closely with the Accounting team to drive accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes.
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, including identifying any errors and making necessary corrections. Escalate any roadblocks of reconciling items, if any.
• Support annual external and internal audit processes by preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.
• Develop optimal procedures and best practices. Identify process and control improvement opportunities and opportunities to use AI to gain efficiency
• Stay up-to-date on changes in US GAAP & IFRS to maintain proper accounting treatment.
• Own the General Ledger (GL) mapping for payroll, ensuring accurate departmental cost allocation, intercompany cross-charges, and tax liability tracking.
• Maintain thorough, up-to-date process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all accounting and payroll tasks.
• Cross train with other team members to ensure coverage of all accounting areas.
• Support ad hoc financial information requests and analyses and other special projects as assigned
